This role supports the group risk team in leveraging the new risk infrastructure for state-of-the-art market risk monitoring with VaR analysis, stress tests, performance analysis, and cash flow risk monitoring. It will help to set up new reports and procedures as requested by the audit committee and board, as well as the trading teams. Finally, it will help to centralize quantitative risk activities from regional risk teams such as the P&L reporting and risk monitoring for the derivative books.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and maintain new commodity stress tests in the risk system (Numerix Ovam / SAP BW).
• Analyze the drivers of the group’s commodity VaR movements (using a historical VaR): from position changes, changing price levels, and changing correlation.
• Build and maintain VaR backtests for the derivative books.
• Support the central monitoring of the risk and P&L of derivative books.
  • Maintain P&L reports and analyze the P&L drivers.
  • Build reports and tools to monitor the risk of the books with what-if-analysis, greeks, etc.
  • Set up performance reports in alignment with the trading teams, showing the risk-adjusted performance, VaR limit utilization, etc.
• Support the group risk team in setting up a new governance framework for Cash Flow risk.
• Work with the IM / IT department to maintain and develop BC’s risk infrastructure.
• Supporting activities: reconcile the positions in the risk system (Numerix) with the source system (SAP and Polomas), automate this process, and set up new traders, strategies, and derivative instruments in the risk system.

• University Master’s degree in Finance (specializing in quant. finance)/ Statistics/Economics/ Mathematics or similar education.
• Fluent in English.
• Either work experience in financial risk management or good statistical knowledge (knowing what a standard deviation is etc.)
• Flair for financial risk, ideally with experience in risk monitoring of derivatives, foreign exchange, or commodities.
• Strong in excel or more advanced calculation tools (Python, R, Matlab, or similar).
• Strong capabilities in MS Office, experience in SAP BW and Power BI is a plus
• Analytical mindset.
• Curiosity to understand positions and potential risks.
• Can adapt fast to a complex environment.
• Independent, able to embrace cross-functional support
